Why You Should Use a Business Email Address

If a stranger is about to send you money or personal details, which would you trust more: sam@yourbusiness.com, or yourbusiness2019@freemail.com? It's a small thing, but people notice. And it's one of the cheapest bits of credibility you can buy.

Why bother

Trust is the main reason. Every email you send also carries your business name, so it works as a tiny advert. You control the address, rather than a free service that can change its rules or close your account. And properly set up business email is less likely to end up in someone's spam folder.

02

How it works

Email uses the same domain as your website. Settings on the domain tell the internet which service receives your mail, and a mailbox on that service stores your messages. You read them in the normal email app on your phone or computer, so day to day it feels like any other inbox.

03

What to set up

A general address such as hello@ or info@ for enquiries, and personal ones for anyone who deals with customers. Get the settings right so your messages are recognised as genuine, and write a proper signature with your name, role, phone number and website. If you're moving from an old address, set it to forward to the new one for a while.

04

Keep it locked down

Business email is where your invoices, quotes and password resets end up, so give each mailbox a strong, unique password and switch on two-step verification wherever it's offered.

05

Getting it with your website

If you build the site yourself, email is a separate job. With us it comes along with the rest: Business includes 2 mailboxes and Growth includes 5, set up alongside your domain and hosting.

Common questions

Can I keep my old address?

Yes. Set it to forward to your new one while customers get used to the change.

Does everyone need their own?

It's a good idea for anyone who talks to customers. A shared hello@ works well for general enquiries.

Does business email cost extra?

Mailboxes are a small ongoing cost because the service stores and protects your mail. Check how many your plan includes.

Want us to build it for you?

One setup fee, then a simple monthly plan with your domain, hosting, support and edits included.
